It typically takes 3-4 classes to learn how to communicate effectively with your dog on his level. We cannot expect to teach a dog to think like humans. By trying to verbally communicate with dogs (e.g. yelling "NO! Stop that! Down!"), it is like aliens coming down & expecting us to understand them. It would be far more effective for us to understand how the dogs communicate & imitate that. They are very physical & communicate to each other with body language & facial expressions, not words or treats. By learning to understand the nonverbal way dogs interact & working with their inate pack instincts, you can become the leader he needs.
He will learn to respect, and therefore obey you. He will learn the commands Sit, Stay, Come, Down and Heel and YOU will learn how to enforce them. He should obey you each and every time, in a timely fashion. He will also be taught good canine behavior-- no pulling, jumping or begging! The real work is teaching you how to enforce the commands properly & setting up communication so your dog respects, and in turn, obeys you. I specialize in dogs that have "Failed" other obedience classes! Dogs that have had previous training often only need 1 or 2 visits.

Puppy Orientation - This is one hour class ($75) to start you off on the right paw, with an emphasis on housebreaking. You will learn how to prevent the puppy from developing bad habits that will need to be corrected during basic obedience training. This is perfect for first time puppy owners with dogs 8-12 weeks old.

Oli

“Dear Laurie-
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for guiding me on how to train Oli! He is already obeying much better. You have an incredible gift and you have changed our house, dog and family. It is such a nice change that has brought so much happiness in a short amount of time! The rest of the family is working on staying on the same page. I'm so glad you came to the rescue! Thank you for your time and patience with all of us. You are greatly appreciated! You also have an amazing way with dogs! You are amazing and professional and clearly an expert.”

Piper

“Laurie has taken care of our little Piper daily. Piper is a 4 month old Beagle puppy who was so unruly, we debated getting rid of her. Piper is now crate trained, she comes, sits, lays down, & she LOVES going to playgroup!”
- Melissa & Pete

Skyla

"Laurie is an amazing help with our yellow lab puppy, Skyla. They at PPS have all been so incredibly flexible and helped us out tremendously, especially at the last minute. We have used all the available services provided- dog-sitting, dog-walking, and training, and I don't have anything but positive thoughts to say about them. Laurie has been a fantastic trainer for Skyla (who absolutely adores her)."

Libby

Laurie, I so enjoyed our training sessions with Libby. It is clear to me now that I am the Alpha, although she does "test" now and then. I always thought the trainer trained the dog, but I quickly learned that I am the trainer and it's constant re-enforcement. I have a much better dog thanks to you, she is a real joy to us. Thanks, you were wonderful!

Jack & Fitz

“Laurie trained Fitz as a puppy and did a great job! It was even more challenging since he broke his leg before his training finished. He retained all she taught him and was able to pick right up when he was better. I highly recommend her to all pet owners - she is a natural and very loving with our dogs!!!”
- Eileen

Angus

Laurie:
Thank you very much for the excellent job you did with Angus. We have been reinforcing everything you taught us which has turned him into a very obedient and fun dog. Lately we even got him to pick out certain toys by name! I am very glad we started with him as a young puppy. We highly recommend your services.

Dear Bruce:

I just wanted to write and let you know how appreciative we are of your suggestion of Laurie Wagner as a dog trainer. Laurie's capability with dogs is outstanding. She had Thor under control within ten minutes and taught me how to "think like a dog" in order to gain control over him. Thor has improved tremendously under the guidance of Laurie and her team. He is now a loving, obedient dog and a dog we can now enjoy.
I would highly recommend Laurie Wagner to anyone with a dog that is misbehaving or a new pup. She truly understands animals and their needs.
Thank you again for providing her name. You have saved a dog from being placed out or put down.

Very truly yours,
Diane B.

Daisy

When I met Stephanie, she was crying, telling me that she was going to have to get rid of her dog, Daisy. She had bruises on her hands from her dog biting her. Then I met Daisy- within minutes I had her in a calm state so that Stephanie & I could discuss her problems. She had been through several trainers & had received some bad advice, which almost cost her her dog. The last trainer told her to get aggressive with the dog, to show her who was boss. Daisy, thinking she was the leader would bite Stephanie when she was correcting her. In her mind, she was saying "who are you, a pack member beneath me, to tell me what to do??" & would therefore correct her by biting her. She wasn't a bad dog by any stretch. She just thought she was the alpha & that is how alphas behave. By teaching Stephanie, who is a quiet, soft-spoken woman how to be an effective leader, everyone is now happy. Daisy, clearly not a threat with my sister or nephew, regularly joins Social Hour & is one of the best-behaved dogs we have.

Laurie
"Thanks for all your love and extra attention you give my special loved one during Social Hour. As you know, Daisy is very important to me. You may have literally saved her life and absolutely gave us the awesome relationship we have. I can't thank you enough."

Lily

Hi Laurie, Thank you so much for coming today. You had so many insights as to how to get through to Lily. I see a huge difference in her already. We used to not be able to let her out of her kennel in the house without watching her every second and stopping her from misbehaving. I made a point to eat lunch while she waited before I fed her and she challenged me, I corrected her and she stopped. I noticed after using your techniques for just a few hours today I can have her out of her kennel and have her next to me on the leash while I do stuff and she behaves so well. Its so awesome! I'm going to keep doing it and feel confident she will continue to improve.
I even had someone come to the house this afternoon and they just raved about how well behaved she was, especially for her age. They were very impressed, even more so when I told them what a different dog she was before this morning.
You are amazing!”
